Is Your Relationship Worth Fighting For? We Think So.

Couple exploring outdoors, depicting a stable relationship

Every relationship goes through hard seasons — conflict, distance, broken trust, or simply growing apart. Couples therapy isn't a last resort. It's a proactive investment in the relationship you want. At Mantra Psychotherapy, we strive to help Ontario couples move from stuck to connected, entirely virtually.

From "You vs. Me" to "Us vs. the Problem"

Our approach helps you and your partner break out of the cycles that keep you stuck — the same arguments, the same distance, the same unresolved hurt. We work collaboratively with both of you to de-escalate conflict, rebuild trust, and develop a shared toolkit that sustains your relationship long after therapy ends.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find the answers to frequently asked questions below.

What should I expect in my first couples therapy session?
In your first couples therapy session, your therapist will spend time getting to know both partners through a conversational "intake" process. They will ask questions about your presenting issue(s) and explore your goals and how they can support you in reaching these goals.
How often should we come to therapy?
Most couples start with weekly sessions, which helps build momentum and consistency early on. As you progress, sessions often move to bi-weekly depending on your goals and where you are in the process. However, the frequency of which you schedule sessions is completely up to you.
Is it truly possible to rebuild trust in a relationship after infidelity?
Rebuilding a partnership after a breach of trust is profoundly challenging, but with dedicated support, it is entirely possible to heal from. Infidelity causes a relational trauma that cannot be fixed by simply trying to "move on" or forget the past. In therapy, we structure a safe, step-by-step repair framework that allows the hurt partner to express their grief and ask essential questions, while helping the participating partner navigate accountability without getting lost in defensiveness. Together, we address the systemic vulnerabilities that existed prior to the betrayal and slowly lay down a foundation of safety.
How can couples therapy help us communicate our feelings and better understand each other?
Couples therapy can help partners communicate their feelings and deepen mutual understanding by providing a structured, safe container to translate surface-level reactivity into vulnerable, clear truths. In daily life, primary emotions like deep hurt, fear of abandonment, or a feeling of inadequacy are frequently masked by secondary survival responses like explosive anger or defensive stonewalling. Using specific techniques like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method, we slow down your conversations in real-time to help you decode, track, and voice these core, vulnerable feelings cleanly, without blame or criticism. Simultaneously, we coach you and your partner in active, empathetic listening, ensuring that you both leave sessions feeling truly understood and validated.
How can couples therapy help us navigate differences in core values within our relationship?
Couples therapy can help partners navigate fundamental differences in values—such as varying views on finances, lifestyle, intimacy, career ambition, or family structures—by transforming gridlocked standoffs into a space of mutual respect and creative compromise. When couples clash over core values, they often get stuck trying to convince or force their partner to change, which only breeds resentment and emotional distance. We guide you through exploring the personal histories, cultural backgrounds, and personality factors behind your specific beliefs, supporting you to truly understand why certain principles matter so much to each of you. By honoring these differences rather than trying to erase them, couples therapy can help you build a customized relationship blueprint where both partners feel fundamentally respected.
Where is Mantra Psychotherapy located?
Mantra Psychotherapy is a virtual clinic, based in Toronto, Ontario. Our sessions are typically done over video call, but phone sessions can be done at the client's request.
How much does a typical therapy session cost?
For couples therapy sessions, our fees range from $210 to $250 per 75-minute session.
Do your therapists offer a reduced rate (e.g., sliding scale)?
Sliding scale rates can be discussed the therapist during your free 15-minute consultation. Each therapist's sliding scale fee range is different, and sliding scale fees are based on the client's financial need. Please note that therapists typically have a fixed number of sliding scale slots.
How are sessions conducted?
Our sessions are typically done over video call, but phone sessions can be done at the client's request. We do not offer in-person services at this time.
What platform do you use for sessions?
We use Jane App for all of our virtual therapy sessions. Jane App is a secure telehealth platform that is healthcare (PHIPA) compliant.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Most often, yes. Since our all of our therapists are registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), their services are usually covered by extended health insurance plans. However, we always advise you to check your specific plan to ensure that the therapist you choose to work with is covered.
